　　报告人简介：

　　Dr. Toru Maruo is a Professor of Graduate School of Horticulture Chiba University.

　　He graduated from the Faculty of Horticulture Chiba University, Chiba, Japan.

　　From 1981 after MS of Chiba Univ., he was continuously working as academic staff of Chiba Univ. His research interests are Vegetable Science especially protected cultivation. Doctor of Agriculture was given from Chiba Univ. for his research work “Quantitative nutrient managing methods at low concentration condition for hydroponic vegetable production.”

　　Now he is widely working as the specialist of Vegetable Science, Protected Cultivation, Hydroponics and Plant Factory (Artificial light type plant factory and Solar type plant factory), Breeding special variety for Plant Factory/Hydroponic production.

　　Now he is the leader for MAFF Plant Factory project in Kashiwa-no-ha campus and.vice director of Japan Plant Factory Association.

　　His Recent main research interests are as follows

• 　　The development of direct photosynthesis control type Integrated Environmental Control System for Greenhouses.

• 　　Studies on the control methods of Tip Burn symptom of lettuce, Chinese cabbage in Plant Factory (under Artificial light condition)

• 　　High-density Single truss tomato production system using quantitative nutrient managing technique at low nutrient concentration.

• 　　Practical use of the seed propagation type strawberry cultivation system.

• 　　Development high speed breeding system with artificial light type plant factory.
